Please keep in mind that these are comforting techniques and do not provide 100% relief and would last an hour or less.

Get your air conditioner filters clean, keep your weather stripping tight, draw the drapes on windows and doors during the heat of the day, and limiting use of ovens and ranges like big heat-creating appliances.

Use tropical clothing like loose, lightweight cotton and linen to enable your body from direct contact with the sun. The guayabera, men's shirt popular in Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean (especially Cuba), also known as "Mexican wedding shirt," is constructed to keep you cool naturally. A relative of the traditional Filipino barong, the guayabera wicks moisture from the skin and is worn untucked to promote air circulation.

Putting cold water on your pulse points cool you down. Chill your pulse points by running cold water over your wrist for a minute or so each hour. You can also use ice cubes wrapped in a cloth. Do not use ice cubes directly on your body. You can also splash water on your temples or face or even take

Change eating habits during summer. Do not eat protein-laden meals. Your body system generates great heat during the metabolizing process. Rather break up a big meal into two smaller meals. Eat foods when they are hot as is eaten in Latin America, India, Thailand. These are some of the world's hottest places but they serve hottest foods.

Drink plenty of water during the day enabling your body to release more sweat. As a rule rule of thumb frequently drink at least eight ounces of water after every hour.

Spicy foods stimulate the circulation make you sweat without actually raising the body temperature and when the surrounding air touches your body, it induces sweating, which ultimately make you cools by evaporating the perspiration.

Stay cool through placing ice water filled in a normal hot water bottle on your ankles and the back of your knees. You can also keep your pack your bedsheets in some sealed polythene bags and put them in the freezer for two-three hours before using them while sleeping.

Your entire body would make you feel cool if your head is cool.

Protein-Losing Enteropathy: Gastroenterology

HTML clipboard Introduction Protein-losing enteropathy is characterized by the severe loss of serum proteins into the intestine. Normal protein loss in the gastrointestinal tract mainly consists of sloughed enterocytes and pancreatic and biliary secretions. Albumin loss through the gastrointestinal tract normally accounts for 2-15% of the total body degradation of albumin, but, in patients with severe protein-losing gastrointestinal disorders, the enteric protein loss may reach up to 60% of the total albumin pool. Pathophysiology The pathophysiology of this disorder is directly related to the excessive leakage of plasma proteins into the lumen of the ...
